An understanding of individual leadership competencies, work styles, and critical thinking skills are critical elements in the selection and development of key individuals. In our Assessment Practice, we employ a variety of proven instruments and methods to ensure accurate results in the evaluation of people. We have found that information drawn from reliable, validity-tested instruments and other methods can play a critical role in an individual's development process or in a selection decision.
Assessment for Employee Selection
A critical first step in any selection process is a thorough analysis of the position to be filled. We can conduct a systematic and structured job analysis to determine the key skills, competencies, work-style profiles, and personality traits required for the position.
Once candidates are identified, we begin the assessment process by administering a comprehensive assessment battery customized according to the position to be filled. We are qualified to administer a variety of reliable and valid instruments designed to measure personality, thinking and work styles, emotional intelligence, motivational factors, and leadership competencies. In addition, we can measure a candidate’s
critical reasoning skills through numerical and verbal ability assessments. Many of our instruments can be completed online for added convenience to the candidate.
We also can gather data through structured interviews and “simulation” exercises. A simulation typically requires the candidate to analyze a strategic business problem and then present results to a panel of objective reviewers. Both the interview and the simulation provide us with additional insight into the areas measured by the formal assessment instruments.
Upon completion of the assessment process, we provide the sponsoring organization with a comprehensive report containing our interpretation of the assessment data, recommendations, and insights. Our holistic assessment process can serve as an important complement to your internal selection procedures.
Assessment for Development
We have found that individuals must understand their leadership styles and competencies before they can grow as leaders. Objective assessment instruments and methods can play a critical role in helping individuals to better understand their own strengths and developmental needs. Structured 360 degree interviews as well as summary 360 inputs can also be used in the development process.
We employ a proven set of custom assessment instruments and methods across our practices, including our Leadership Consulting, Career Transition and Talent Selection Practices.
